Threads Story

Across Egypt, in five governorates, more than 400 women took a brave, first step: to learn, to create, and to rebuild their lives through craft.

Some of these women live with or are affected by HIV. Many carry stories the world never hears. But inside every training session, every stitch, every piece of clay, a different story emerges, one of courage, talent, and possibility.

Through a partnership between Buttonup, UNAIDS, and the Government of the Netherlands, women gained skills in sewing, embroidery, leatherwork, pottery, and entrepreneurship. They learned the craft, and they learned their own worth.

Their work inspired something bigger than the project itself.

Today, we proudly launch Threads by Buttonup — a sub-brand created to continue supporting women living with or affected by HIV long after the project ends.

Every product is part of that vision. It carries the touch of a woman who worked hard, learned a new skill, and chose hope over fear. Her name may remain private, but her strength is present in every detail.

Join us in supporting a growing community of women who are shaping their lives with resilience and pride.
